So, this is a different take from Kate Nash. Along with some interestingly placed highlights, she has pursued a radically alternate musical route to a punk band and riot grrrl approach. Gone are the days of lamenting about sick on trainers and here is the new result; a dizzy slow chant that builds up into a rah-fest of girly angst shouts and growls across a steady guitar and drum beat. Vanished is Nash’s recognisable mockney trail and cutesy videos to boot. Filmed and recorded in 24 hours, ‘Under-estimate The Girl’ is the darker undercurrent of Nash. I say bravo for striking a new chord averse to Cheryl-syndrome (skintight, bronzed, club track, thrusting). What do you think?
